There’s something quietly magical about transforming something soft and malleable into solid silver.


This piece began as silver metal clay - a material made from tiny recycled silver particles bound together with a natural, plant-based binder and water. In its early stage, it feels almost like working with clay: it can be shaped, textured, and gently persuaded into form. For this pendant, I wanted to capture the softness and movement of a real flower, so I carefully curved the base, allowing each petal to lift and flow rather than sit flat.

Once the shape was complete, the piece was dried and then fired. During firing, the binder burns away, leaving behind pure silver - a quiet but remarkable transformation from something fragile into something permanent. After polishing, I added a patina to the silver. This darkens the recessed areas and highlights the texture, bringing out the fine details in each petal and giving the piece a sense of depth and age, almost as if it has always existed.
